Whistle Blowers Summit

National Whistleblower Day commemorates the passage of the first U.S. whistleblower law, and celebrates the contributions of whistleblowers to creating a more open and just society. Now, 240 years later, we understand just how critical this can be for even the highest public office in the land – the President.

Dr. Tommie (“Toni”) G. Savage was the top procurement specialist at U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville, Alabama (“HNC”) when she stumbled on rampant fraud in the Ranges Program—a high-profile Army contracting program. Although Dr. Savage’s performance appraisals over her 20-year career ranked her as an extraordinary performer whose “Integrity” was “beyond reproach,” and after she was recently promoted and awarded the “Director of Contracting Professional Award for Integrity,” her career came crashing down when she blew the whistle on the gross and obvious Ranges Program fraud that was costing tax payers millions of dollars.
